Art Space is an art gallery run by eight local women artists. We are eight very different personalities which we feel is reflected in our very varied and creative styles of painting. Our gallery is run as a co-operative so we each take it in turns to be there in person. Please feel free to browse around or to ask us questions about our work.

My work is mainly in oils but I also have a love of watercolour painting. I fluctuate in subject between a light-hearted look at life at the sea-side and a more introspective view of odd corners that catch my eye.
Previous career in the arts before becoming full time painter - Costume Designer for BBC and ITV television.

Her paintings are produced by a process known as 'frottage', whereby the bare, unframed canvass is rubbed onto the rocks in Cornwall which provide her with artistic potential. These marks are the beginning of a visual story that unfolds in narrative driven by the artists imagination and subconscious mythology. The result is a multi-layered visual storyline.

I have lived in Cornwall for 12 years and have been working at my linoprints and watercolours since leaving Falmouth College of Arts in 1993. Since then I have also had an interest in ceramics and finished an A-Level course in ceramics last year and have since developed my own approach. My work is largely influenced by the natural world - textures, rhythms, colours. |

Helen Atkins
Wherever I go, my sketch pad and water colours go with me. From these sketches I then work in acrylics on canvas. I try to capture feeling and mood in my paintings. Most of my paintings are inspired by the Cornish coastline and especially the sea.
