Taranaki is uniquely situated in a quiet
area 500 yards from St. Ives centre, commanding unobstructed 180° views over
the middle and lower town, picturesque harbour, 'Island', bay and North Cornish
coastline. In a resort famous for its scenic beauty the panorama enjoyed from
all units at Taranaki is breathtaking. On a clear day Trevose Head can be seen,
32 miles distant. The golden sands of Porthmeor, Porthminster and harbour
beaches are all within half a mile as are most other amenities. The property is
managed by the owner who has had over 30 years catering experience with a well
known shipping firm and the three letting units each have their own separate
access.
A 25 metre, six lane heated indoor swimming
pool less than 100 metres from Taranaki is due to open in early July 2001.
Parking for seven medium-sized cars on
tarmac stand, with a private cul-de-sac at rear of property. Rotary drying lines
are erected on the lawn and in the backyard. Electricity is by slot meter and
gas by meter reading. Duvets are provided but not covers, towels or bed linen. A
cot and high chair are both available on request.

Taranaki offers a high standard of self
catering holiday accommodation. Full double glazing has been fitted and full
central heating installed for all year round comfort. The Proprietor, who has
his own separate quarters at the rear of the property has lived onsite for over
fifty years and personally supervises each change over.
Bookings by the week from 2pm Saturday of
arrival to 10am Saturday of departure with prompt confirmation greatly
appreciated by Proprietor.
If arriving by car, keep left at traffic
island by Porthminster Hotel at town entrance. Follow signs 'To main car park
1000 spaces' (Trenwith), drive past park and stop at first house which is only
fifty years past exit and clearly visible. Alight and enjoy your holiday at
Taranaki.
The House
Sleeps 9-11 which is ideal for the larger family and has the following layout.
Ground Floor: Front entrance; Lounge with colour TV and double bed settee;
separate dining room seating 12; spacious kitchen with electric cooker,
microwave oven, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine/spin drier, iron and
board; shower room with toilet and wash hand basin. Duvets and Pillows are
provided.
First Floor: 2 front bedrooms with 4'6" divan beds, 1 front bedroom with 4'
divan bed, 1 rear bedroom with bunk beds and 1 single bed, all with h&c
and shaving points; shower room with toilet & wash hand basin.
There is also a well kept front lawn bordered by shrubs and bedding plants.
Parking at side. Full gas central heating.

The Maisonette (Taranaki Vean)
Sleeps 4-6 and is built on to the South side of Taranaki: layout as
follows.
Ground Floow: Lounge with colour TV and double bed settee; 23'
kitchen/diner with fridge freezer, electric cooker, microwave oven, washing
machine/spin drier, iron and board; Rear porch and entrance.
First Floor: 1 front and 1 rear bedroom, both with 4'6" divan beds,
hot and cold vanitory units, shaving points and built-in wardrobes;
bathroom/toilet; double glazed conservatory with cane furniture accessed
via rear bedroom. Duvets and Pillows are provided.
Patio door in lounge opens onto secluded patio with rockery, shrubs and
flower beds. Full gas central heating. Parking at rear. |
The Flatlet
Sleeping two takes up the whole of the top floor of Taranaki and the view from
the eleven foot six picture window is stunning.
Layout: The living area with colour TV incorporates the main body of the room
with kitchenette in rear dormer (refrigerator, electric cooker, microwave oven,
iron and board supplied). 4'6" divan bed, dressing table and clothes closet
to one side, while opposite are situated en-suite toilet and vanitory unit.
Dining table positioned in front dormer. Access is by outside rear stairs to
first floor doorway which opens on to foyer where shower room is located. Duvets
and Pillows are provided. (All
Guests staying in this unit may use the owners 550 sq. ft. observation sun deck.
Parking at rear.

All three have video recorders.
Open all year - Pets accepted by arrangement.
The gardens at Taranaki came second in 'Best Kept Private Garden' competition
St. Ives.
